BLACK BELTS!!
The rank of Black Belt denotes years of work - practice, learning, more practice, more learning, and still more practice. And each student is different - their path along the way is their own, and the quest for knowledge will treat them differently.
The student must learn not just about technique, but about themselves. They must in a very real sense, be remade as a warrior.
The Black Belt grading is a tempering - the warrior must be flexible, yet strong, almost unbreakable and sharp.
So the grading for Black Belts held on Sunday 13 December 2015 was in may ways very special: 3 candidates were tested, and the Fire Dragon students who helped as well as those who looked on and provided support, learned too.
At the end of the day, all three passed: Shr Fu Elinor Jean was promoted to 2nd Higher Level; Shr Fu Bernard Kilimnik was confirmed as 1st Higher Level with a very strong performance, and Shr Fu Daniel Cochrane joined the ranks of Black Belt.
Well done all!
