DECEMBER 2002 NEWS - PART 2
Due to the large amount of news, and number of images, December News is in two parts!
In a pretty hectic year, the National All Styles Nationa Championships were held in Melbourne the week after the Multistyle Camp. As a member of the Australian Referees Board, Sifu Hardy was involved in policy discussions as well as judging and refereeing all weekend (with his voice suffering by Sunday eevening!).
It was a pretty well run tournament - with over 600 competitors - and there were very few injuries. Sifu Hardy was accompanied to Melbourne by the Mantis (Stephen), and by Grasshopper Davis, in his first national level tournament. To the delight of Sifu Hardy, and as a credit to his own abilities, Grasshopper is now the 2002 Australian Novice Men's Form Champion!
Fire Dragon's Christmas Dinner took place on the 21st, and nearly 30 students and their families and friends enjoyed a filling banquet at the New Shangahi Restaurant.
With just the one more formal lesson to go in 2002, Sifu Hardy took the opportunity to present the Niket Rewal Award to the student best demonstrating the Way of the White Dragon. In a first, Pierre Skorich - Goanna - won the Award for the second time.
Sifu Hardy presented certificates to other students who had shown dedication and progress in their training, including Ingrid Bean, Peter Dukes, Luli Faber, and Dave Davis. Frank Attard was presented with his certificate on the 23rd, and Stephen Wells will receive his in 2003!
A hard but rewarding year - with signs that 2003 will be even bigger!
